The liturgy is said and the service lasts about 40 minutes. 9.30am and 11am Holy Communion (CW) – A service of Holy Communion from "Common Worship 2000". This service has hymns, as sermon and a choir. It lasts approximately an hour and is followed by coffee and tea. 11am All Age Service – A service for all the family, particularly aimed at children. The children are led from the church to John Mayne School and brought back to church in time for Communion. In Smarden, an hour-long "Church Club" (Sunday School at which parents are welcome to stay) takes place once a month in the church at 9.30am. Children are welcome at all our services and there are activities relating to them at the back or side of both churches. More information on children's services and worship can be found on the Children and Youth page. Young People – A creative service aimed at youth, called Cosmic Y, runs every third Sunday of the month at 6.30pm at the Smarden Charter Hall. This is organised jointly with the churches of Bethersden and High Halden. Check the Notices page for the next one. 6.30pm Evensong (BCP) – This service follows Evensong in the Book of Common Prayer 1662. It includes hymns and a short sermon or meditation. |
