CHURCH NOTICES for week beginning Sunday, 28th February 2010

Biddenden Lent Group: This week's meeting, on Wednesday 3rd March, is at 8 o'clock at 72 North Street. We will be reflecting on today's Gospel reading. If you need transport, please contact Julie on 291658.

Lent Lunches, All Saints:  For six Thursdays in Lent, starting on 18th February, soup, bread and cheese lunches will be served in the church between 11.00am and 1.00pm.  Help would be appreciated.  If you can make soup and/or help out on any of the Thursdays, please contact Barbara Bridgeman on 291143.

Smarden Charity Lent Lunches: 
Come to a simple soup and bread lunch on Fridays at 12.30pm during Lent.  Venues as follows:

Organised by St Michael's Guild, in aid of The Pilgrim's Hospice.

The Lent appeal this year will support the Haiti Earthquake Appeal:  Collection will stay open till Easter.   Smartie tubes to help save are at the back of church.

Electoral Roll:  Preparing for our Annual Parochial Church Meeting, we need to bring our official
church membership list up to date.  If you regularly worship here, then it is very helpful for you to join our Electoral Roll, it helps us gauge our church membership, stay in touch with you and gives you the right to vote at our annual church meeting.  Forms are available from David King (Smarden) and Sally Whitestone (Biddenden) or please see Alex Bienfait.  Dates of the APCMs are:  Smarden 20th April, at the Charter Hall,  and Biddenden 27th April, in All Saints, both 7.45 for 8.00pm.

An open invitation to meet the Diocese's new Bishop, the Rt. Reverend Trevor Willmott, Bishop of Dover, on the evening of Thursday 4th March at a reception at Tenterden Town Hall from 7.00 to 9.00pm.  There will be a question and answer session.  All are welcome.

Women's World Day of Prayer Friday 5th March, 8.00pm, St Michael's Smarden All welcome.

Taize Service:  An opportunity on Sunday 7th March 6.30pm, All Saints Biddenden, to join in a Taize style service, part of special services offered during Lent.  The Taize ecumenical community have evolved a distinctively simple meditative form of worship that uses simple songs and silence.

St Michael's Smarden  Friday Communion 9:30am.  During the winter weather we are moving the mid-week communion service indoors.  Up to the end of March we meet on Friday's at 9:30am at Little Smarden House, The Street, Smarden.  All Welcome.

Mothering Sunday:  Pat Palmer will be coordinating flowers for Mothering Sunday, but will be grateful for offers of help.  Please phone Pat 01233 770557.

Smarden Church Club Help needed. In recent months we have experienced strong growth in our Church club, but that means we also need more help.
